About this place
Lining the shelves of Wada Pan along a street in Kasugachō, Nerima Ward, is an enticing array of baked goods ranging from sweet afternoon treats to hearty savory sandwiches. The bakery's signature item is the an-shio, a soft salt roll split and filled with smooth strained red bean paste. The light saltiness of the crust highlights the gentle sweetness of the anko, creating an understated flavor that keeps people coming back. For sweet cravings, the selection also includes visually charming flower-shaped fruit sandwiches and flaky, layered pain au chocolat.
The savory counter shows just as much personality. Standouts include the chikuwa pan—a soft roll enclosing a fish cake stuffed with tuna salad—and a Korean-style yangnyeom chicken sandwich featuring sweet-and-spicy gochujang-glazed chicken. Fragrant mentaiko baguettes and golden curry buns round out an accessible lineup well suited for a quick lunch or an everyday snack.
For daily breakfast loaves, you will find whole-wheat aged baguettes alongside fluffy, mild Pullman bread and crusty hard toast made with French bread dough. Freshly brewed hot coffee and caffe lattes can be ordered at the counter to accompany your picks, whether you choose to take them home or sit for a moment in the shop's compact eat-in nook. Wada Pan is open from 9:00 to 19:00, Tuesday through Saturday (closed Sundays and Mondays), and accepts cashless payments including credit cards and Rakuten Pay.
